Oil slick calm today with some pretty good fishing. The grass was scattered everywhere on the break but we weeded our way through it long enough to catch a few bailers. We got really lucky and caught a nice wahoo on a dolphin nylon. We went to the deep after that and caught a sailfish and missed a blue marlin. Made a deep drop and a caught a giant wreckfish. Morning half day today. Slick calm ocean and plenty of big AJ's. Took a little while to find them but once we did it was on. Offshore had some great dolphin fishing and good wahoo fishing. Beautiful day on the water today. Light north breeze with no humidity hard to believe it's August. We had quite a few wahoo bites today but we only managed to hang on to one nice one. We found a couple schools of dolphin but they didn't want to cooperate very well. We did catch a few nice triggers this afternoon for dinner. Wahoos are here plenty of bites around the fleet today. Afternoon half day today. They wanted to go pull on something big so we went in search of some amberjacks. Found all they wanted cranked until their arms were sore. Try the triggers but they weren't biting today just a bunch of small sea bass. Half day this morning. We went looking for a shark. We found plenty of small ones. Had a live bait eaten by something a little bigger but never saw what it was. Caught some nice triggers and an octopus for dinner. Offshore the wahoo fishing sounded decent with a scattered dolphin and white marlin. Went to the deep today looking for the big bite. We got it just didn't hold on to it for long enough. Pretty flat line bite from a 200lb blue one. Thought we had him hooked and got everything cleared and he just came unglued. Great to see one that close though. We did catch a wahoo in the deep. We also made a quick bottom drop for some dinner and caught a great ole big wreckfish and a little rose fish on the same rig. Pretty crazy to catch those two on the same rig. Grass grass grass no shortage of grass today every where we went it was a streaked out mess. We battled it long enough to catch a few dolphins and one nice wahoo. Sounded like it was a little better wahoo fishing up to the east. Hopefully the grass lines up a little better tomorrow. Little scrappy today. Not many bites around the fleet. We were lucky enough to hang on to most of ours. We did miss a blue one but it wasn't much of a bite. Just kind of a lazy roll on a long rigger never really ate it. It was nice to see one though. We did have a crazy free jumping sail air it out 5 or 6 times right next to the boat. I would have sworn it was hooked but there wasn't another boat in sight. Pretty wild show anyway. Back at it tomorrow hopefully there's a few more bites to go around. Good dolphin fishing today. We found a decent place of dolphins early and caught what my group wanted and went looking for something bigger. We watched everyone else around us catch marlins but we never got a turn. Guess I gotta blame the guy behind the wheel. We did have a few wahoo bites but never held on to one.
